Automatic AI translations
Vaylo can translate your content into all supported languages automatically, while still letting you override any translation by hand. Default-language text is translated on demand and stored, so the same text is never translated twice, and any AI-generated text is clearly marked with a disclaimer.
Where it lives
Automatic AI translations apply across the places that already support multiple languages — multi-language headers, email events, and tour details — and are controlled by your subscription. Travel information, room types, and supplements keep the existing manual translation workflow in this first phase.
Key capabilities
- Automatically translate default (system) language text into all supported languages
- Trigger translation only when needed — on new content, when the default text changes, or when a translation is missing — to control cost
- Store translations so repeated requests aren't sent for the same text
- Always prioritise a manual translation over the AI version when one exists
- Show a clear "This text is AI translated" disclaimer on AI-generated text
- Gate automatic translations behind the appropriate subscription tier

How automatic translation works
When automatic translations are enabled, Vaylo translates your default-language text into every supported language and stores the result. A translation request is made only when it's actually needed:
- when new content is created,
- when the default text is edited, or
- when a translation for a language is missing or out of date.
Because results are stored, the same text is not sent for translation again.
💡 Tip: Editing the default-language text is what triggers a fresh translation. If you only need to correct one language, edit that language's text directly rather than the default — that keeps the other languages untouched.
Manual overrides and the AI disclaimer
A manual translation always takes priority over the AI version. Where no manual translation has been provided, Vaylo uses the AI translation and adds a "This text is AI translated" disclaimer so readers know the text was generated automatically.
Where it applies in this phase
| Area | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Multi-language headers | Translated once and stored; new database instances include the pre-translated headers |
| Email events | A tab per language; a blank language template falls back to the AI translation of the default text, a manual template always wins |
| Tour details | A tab per language with AI/manual handling; copying a tour also copies its translations |
| Travel information, room types, supplements | Manual translation only (unchanged in this phase) |
📝 Note: Automatic AI translations are available on the appropriate subscription tier. Without that subscription, only the existing manual translation workflow is available.
