Google Maps location search

Locations in the itinerary tab can be searched and selected via Google Maps. The first time a location is picked, Vaylo saves it locally with its name, latitude, longitude, country, and a link back to the map. After that, the location is available in Vaylo without needing to search Google Maps again.

Where it lives

Company Admin → Bookings → open a booking → Itinerary tab → location columns.

This first version applies to location columns in the itinerary tab. Later versions will extend the same behaviour to FIT basics, hotel inventory, tours (destination from and to), and pickup locations.

Key capabilities

  • Search any non-airport location from Google Maps directly in the itinerary location columns
  • Pick a suggestion from the dropdown to populate the column
  • Vaylo stores the selected location locally for reporting (lat/long, name, country) and for re-use on future bookings
  • Each selected location keeps a link back to Google Maps for use in passenger portal and tour descriptions

Selecting a location

Steps:

  1. Open a booking and go to the Itinerary tab.
  2. Click into a location column on any segment.
  3. Start typing a location name (for example, Stockholm). Google Maps suggestions appear in the dropdown.
  4. Pick the correct suggestion. The column is populated with the selected location.
  5. Save the segment.
tip

If the same place appears more than once in the results (a city centre vs. a specific street, for example), pick the level of detail that best matches the segment — Vaylo stores whichever one you choose.

How Vaylo stores the location

When a location is selected from Google Maps, Vaylo creates and stores a local record with:

  • Name — the name shown in the itinerary.
  • Latitude / Longitude — for reporting and statistical use.
  • Country — for grouping and filters.
  • Google Maps link — usable later in passenger portal pages and tour descriptions.

The next time the same location is needed on any booking, it can be picked from Vaylo's own list with no Google Maps round-trip.

note

Airport locations (with three-character IATA codes) are unchanged and continue to use Vaylo's existing airport list. Google Maps is used only for non-airport locations.
