Tour categories
Tour categories are the top-level taxonomy you use to organise tours by theme or type — for example, City breaks, Cruises, Adventure, or Yacht. Categories can be nested (parent → child), translated into multiple languages, and are surfaced to customers as filters in the booking widget.
Key capabilities
- Create and maintain a category hierarchy (optional parent on each category)
- Translate category names per language with AI translation assistance
- Filter the list by Active / Inactive / All
- Toggle categories between active and inactive without deleting them
- Power the Category filter shown in the booking widget
User roles

Where it lives
Tour Administration → Tour categories.
Tour categories show up on:
| Place | What you see |
|---|---|
| Tour Templates → Basics | Category multi-select listing every active category |
| All Tours → Basics | Category multi-select |
| Booking widget | A Category filter; only categories assigned to at least one available tour appear |
Creating a category
- Navigate to Tour Administration → Tour categories.
- Click Create category.
- Enter the category Name (for example, City breaks).
- (Optional) Pick a Parent category to nest this one under an existing top-level category.
- Click Save.
Translating a category
- Open the category from the list.
- Open the Multi-language tab.
- For each supported language, either enter a translation manually or use AI translate to suggest one — review and adjust as needed.
- Click Save.
When a customer browses the widget in a particular language, the translated name is used.
Updating a category
Open the category from the list and edit its name or parent. Tours assigned to it continue to use the category automatically.
Active and inactive
Use Active / Inactive / All to switch the list view. Inactive categories are hidden from new tour-edit dropdowns and from the widget filter.
Only categories that are assigned to at least one bookable tour appear in the widget's category filter. Setting a category as active is not enough on its own.
